Cruising Area

CIMG3352Vannes, a fortified Breton town at the top of the ‘Golfe’ offers a range of restaurants and the atmosphere of a typical Breton city.

The Auray River leads to the small port of Bono, which offers the calmest of shelters in the heart of nature with a history of oyster farming.

The ‘Golfe du Morbihan’ is an inland sea providing sheltered waters for navigation, dotted with many islands and making navigation fun but interesting

The Baie de Quiberon is very well-protected from all directions and as such offers great cruising with numerous anchorages.

‘Belle-Ile’ – “Beautiful Island” – is the largest island, it is a bit further afield, beyond the Teignouse passage. It offers many picturesque anchorages, Ster Wen and Port Kerel are found on the ‘côte sauvage' – ‘the wild coast’ – and are two of the most beautiful anchorages in South Brittany, some say France.

The island of Houat or the smaller and more isolated Hoëdic offer spectacular beaches beautiful unspoilt anchorages and plenty of flora and fauna.

Lorient, La Trinité sur Mer, the Golfe du Morbihan are names renowned in the world of ocean racing and regattas. Lorient and La Trinité sur Mer remain the ports for multihulls and the starting point of many races. This is a fantastic area to experience adventurous offshore sailing and mile building passages.
